We pray this letter finds you all well as we all look forward to this upcoming Christmas season. The end of this month has been met with some unexpected challenges here in “Salone.” In recent days (on November 26th), the capital city of Freetown faced attack from within in an attempted coup, creating a time of chaos and uncertainty. In response, security forces are navigating the turbulent situation following the attacks which claimed lives, illegally released more than 1,800 prisoners, and led to a nationwide curfew.
As of the writing of this update, the weekend here in Freetown continued in calm, for which we are incredibly grateful, and the curfew is still in place as security forces are still in pursuit of the assailants and illegally released prisoners. Please join us in continuing to pray for the safety of all involved, wisdom of the authorities, and a swift restoration of peace. At this time, we remain in-country.
With this in mind, it is crucial to lift our upcoming ministry endeavors in heartfelt prayer. Shaun is scheduled to teach at a multi-day pastor’s conference in the area of Kono, several hours “upline” from the capital city. Investing in local pastors as they seek to lead their churches and communities in biblical truth is imperative, and this opportunity is significant in equipping these pastors in their Great Commission endeavors.
Simultaneously, we are in the beginning stages of the verification process of legal documents and deeds for a potential property purchase. This is a long process and the first step of many before we even begin negotiation attempts for this potential parcel of land.
