Happy New Year! A fellow pastor sent me this thought and I wanted to share with you as it got my mind thinking about how much time I spend for the Lord versus myself.
Paul said, “And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you…” II Corinthians 12:15. We are all being spent by someone or something every day we live. Most people spend their life doing all the world, the flesh and the devil want them to do. They do not let God spend them. The Lord Jesus said, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospels, the same shall save it.” Mark 8:35.
Life is very brief compared to eternity. The Bible says life is “a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” James 4:14. We can never go back and relive the time we have lived. Once it is spent, it is gone forever. If it was spent by the Lord for His purpose, it is reserved in Heaven for our reward. If our life was lived for self, it is gone forever, but life lived for Christ is in Heaven and one day will be rewarded.
Let us all strive to serve the Lord more in 2024.
